ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said in a statement that the unresolved issues of South Asia have affected the peace and development of the region for decades, and now practical steps towards their resolution have become indispensable.
The Prime Minister appreciated the role of the US leadership in responding to the Pakistan-India ceasefire and said that we are grateful for the steps taken under the leadership of President Donald Trump, who made this progress possible. He added that the US vice president and secretary of state have also played an effective role in establishing peace in the region, which we appreciate.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that this development can prove to be the beginning of a new era of peace and stability in South Asia, and we consider it a positive step in the interest of the people of the region.
