Rawalpindi: According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army Spokesperson, the 272nd Corps Commanders Conference was held under the chairmanship of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in which deep concerns were expressed over the provocative statements of the Indian civil and military leadership. The conference discussed in detail the regional tension, Indian-backed terrorism and the operational preparedness of the forces and reiterated that the Pakistan Armed Forces are capable of giving a decisive response to any situation.
The participants in the meeting termed the nexus of terrorism and crime with political backing as a threat to the state and said that it is imperative to eliminate it. The Field Marshal praised the bravery, sacrifices of the soldiers and the joint role of the army and civil administration in flood relief operations. The participants welcomed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and the historic Pak-Saudi defense agreement and emphasized its role for peace in the region.
The ISPR said that the forum reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and the army chief reiterated his support for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders. The Field Marshal directed the commanders to maintain their fitness, discipline and readiness to enable a prompt and effective response to any aggression.
