Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has appealed to Jamaat-e-Islami for help in the release of its founder, Imran Khan. According to sources, senior leaders of the party contacted Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and requested mediation with the government.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman confirmed that PTI contacted him; however, he clarified that before mediation, PTI must obtain a full mandate from its leadership.
He said that mediation can be effective only when a clear and authoritative position is presented by the PTI leadership. He said that we have called a meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami and decided that if Imran Khan himself gives a mandate for mediation, we are ready to talk to the government.
He added that a clear stance and serious intentions are necessary to end any political deadlock, and Jamaat-e-Islami will make every effort to move the political process forward.
