PSDP 2025-26: Government’s focus on less developed areas and national production

ISLAMABAD – The Government of Pakistan has decided to make the planning of development projects under the PSDP 2025-26 for the next fiscal year in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of ‘Udan Pakistan’ and make less developed areas the center of focus.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, was attended by senior officials, including the Ministers for Planning, Economic Affairs, and Food and Security. The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects, financial difficulties, and priorities for the new fiscal year.

On this occasion, Ishaq Dar said that development projects not only pave the way for economic improvement but also social justice, employment opportunities, and regional equality. The meeting decided that projects such as energy, water, agriculture, technology, transport, and CPEC Phase 2 would be included on a priority basis.

Keeping in mind the importance of private sector involvement in the development process, emphasis was placed on public-private partnership, and a subcommittee was formed in this regard. The meeting also agreed that the focus of the PSDP should be on increasing the capacity of less developed areas and increasing national production.
