President and the Prime Minister agree on the decision of the Field Marshal

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif held a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at the President House, in which detailed consultations were held on the decision regarding the promotion of Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal.

According to sources, the prime minister apprised the president of the background of the approval of the rank of field marshal after the approval of the cabinet and consultation with the military leadership. The meeting also discussed the current security situation in the country, challenges faced in the region, and recent defense initiatives.

President Asif Ali Zardari, during the conversation, said that the armed forces under the leadership of General Asim Munir successfully defended the homeland, and the effective and prompt response against Indian attacks has further strengthened the nation’s confidence in Pakistan’s defense capability. According to him, General Asim Munir deserves the rank of field marshal. Because he demonstrated professional leadership in difficult times.

During the meeting, the timely response of the Pakistani forces against the Indian aggression was appreciated, and the sacrifices of the martyrs and ghazis were paid tribute. The participants said that the Pakistan Army played an exemplary role in safeguarding national security.

Federal Ministers Azam Nazir Tarar, Khawaja Asif, and Ahsan Iqbal were also present on the occasion, who described the mutual cooperation of the military and political leadership for the defense of the country as the need of the hour.

According to sources, the meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, and the two leaders reaffirmed that all institutions are on the same page for the defense, stability, and development of the country.
