ISLAMABAD—Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has termed the recent drone attacks by India as a serious attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty and said that Pakistan’s response has become inevitable, in which Indian military installations will be targeted. Speaking to the British news agency, he said that the Pakistan-India conflict has entered a closed lane and there is no room for de-escalation.
Khawaja Asif clarified that the Indian drones did not cause any damage to Pakistani military installations or Lahore’s defense system. He, however, said that Pakistan’s retaliatory action would target Indian military installations after India’s attack on civilian areas.
The defense minister added that the US is leading international efforts to reduce tensions between Pakistan and India.
These statements were made at a time when tensions between the two countries have escalated, and world powers, including the United States, Russia, and China, are making efforts to restore peace and order in the region.
Pakistan has claimed to have shot down 12 drones after Indian drones intruded in recent days, while India has claimed to have hit Pakistani air defense systems in Lahore.
Rising tensions between the two countries have raised fears of a major conflict in the region, and the international community is urgently calling for restraint and dialogue.
