US President Donald Trump has ordered a naval blockade around Iran, saying that if any Iranian ship is seen near the US blockade, it will be destroyed. In a statement released on Truth Social, President Trump claimed that 158 Iranian naval vessels have already been destroyed in US strikes.
According to the US military, the blockade has been temporarily implemented in the Strait of Hormuz and the Arabian Sea. The aim of the ban is to control the movement of ships at Iranian ports.
CENTCOM has clarified that suspicious ships can be seized, however, ships that do not belong to Iran will be able to continue their journey after being searched.
