Lahore: The second extraordinary meeting on law and order was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in which strict decisions were taken to ensure peace and stability in the province.
It was decided in the meeting that the iron grip will be further tightened against those who spread bloodshed, mischief or sedition and riots in the name of protest, while those who challenge the state writ will be dealt with strictly.
The Punjab government has decided to register a case under the PECA Act for the provocative and false statement of PTI founder Imran Khan regarding “400 bodies”.
The Punjab government says that the state’s goal is not to target any religious group or belief, but to take action against those elements who have a history of destroying peace.
The meeting also decided that action would be taken under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) against those who use mosque pulpits or seminary forums to promote hatred, chaos or violence.
The Punjab government has decided to take immediate action against the violation of loudspeaker laws by imposing a complete ban on the use of nailed sticks, petrol bombs or any kind of weapons during protests.
Moreover, Section 144 is in force in the province, and cases will be registered against those violating it under terrorism charges.
The meeting directed immediate action under the zero tolerance policy against facilitators of extremist groups, spreaders of hate material, and those inciting violence on social media.
The Punjab government clarified that a complete ban has been imposed on all illegal activities of extremist groups and the security agencies have been given powers to take immediate action.
