Lahore: Director General PDMA Punjab Irfan Ali Kathia has said that all administrations have been put on high alert to deal with dengue in the province. On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, commissioners and deputy commissioners have been ordered to take special measures to effectively prevent the spread of dengue.

The DG PDMA said that citizens should not let water accumulate in their homes, take care of cleanliness and use larvicide and spray to prevent mosquito breeding. He added that citizens should immediately consult a doctor in case of dengue symptoms or fever.

He said that all health agencies and control centers are on high alert while meteorological and insect data are being continuously reviewed so that the risk of dengue can be identified in a timely manner.

Irfan Ali Kathia said that along with relief and shelter arrangements in the flood-affected areas, cleanliness and water drainage are also being ensured. Instructions have also been issued to run a campaign on TV, radio and social media for public awareness.

He directed that the district administration should immediately inform the PDMA of any emergency situation and provide a daily situation report so that dengue can be controlled through joint measures.
