TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has slammed the international community, especially the United States, saying that current international laws are being used as a shield for specific interests. Speaking to the media in Tehran, he expressed deep concern over the contradictions in the international system and harshly criticised American policies.
Abbas Araqchi said that on the one hand, the United States is fully supporting the inhumane blockade imposed by Israeli forces in Gaza and is obstructing aid there under the pretext of security, but on the other hand, the same United States points fingers at Iran’s legal and defensive actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
He raised the question of what kind of international law is this that protects the aggression of the powerful but criminalises the defence of the weak?’ The Iranian Foreign Minister added that in Washington’s view, open aggression by Israel is right, but when Iran takes any step to protect its integrity, it is declared wrong. He clarified that this behaviour openly reflects double standards, which is seriously damaging the concept of global peace and justice.
