Two-thirds majority is mandatory, Talal Chaudhry says the goal of the 27th Constitutional Amendment

Islamabad: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry made it clear in a recent press conference that for amendments at the constitutional level, only the consent of the government is not enough, but the support of more than two-thirds of the members of parliament is required.
He said that in order to make the 27th Constitutional Amendment under consideration a success, the government has decided to bring all political parties, including the PPP, to the negotiating table by giving it an element of national interest.
Talal Chaudhry, citing the past example, said that during the 26th Constitutional Amendment process, the opposition’s reservations were removed in the Speaker’s Office, and now the same strategy will be taken forward.
In the past, he also said that PTI was also brought into the negotiations through Fazlur Rehman, but later they could not vote.
