Third spell of monsoon rains in full swing in Punjab; Meteorological Department predicts rains till July 17

Lahore: The third spell of monsoon rains is ongoing in Punjab in full swing and the Meteorological Department has predicted that these rains will continue till July 17. More rrain islikely in most districts of the province during the next 24 hours.

According to Director General PDMA Punjab Irfan Ali Kathia, most of the rivers and streams of the province are currently at normal fflow;however, moderate flooding is ongoing at the Taunsa point of the Indus RRiver,where the water flow has been recorded at 426,000 cusecs.

Meanwhile, the situation in Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, SSutlej,and Rajanpur Hill Torrents is under control. A high level of ffloodwateris flowing through Vidor Rudkohi in Dera Ghazi Khan, due to which the district administration and rescue agencies are on full alert.

The public has been strictly advised to avoid going near rivers and streams during the rains to avoid any untoward incident.
