Lahore: After the recent floods, the National Task Force for Polio has decided to postpone the anti-polio campaign in Punjab. The campaign will not start on September 1 but will be launched 10 days later.

This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Federal Ministers Mustafa Kamal and Ahad Cheema, in which the chief secretaries of the four provinces and relevant officials participated.

Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal said that apart from Punjab, the anti-polio campaign will continue in other parts of the country as per the schedule. The campaign will start in Sindh, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan from September 1, while it will start in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from September 15.

The Health Minister said that public representatives are being involved in the campaign so that a maximum number of children can be vaccinated against polio. He said that 13 out of 16 polio cases have been reported from the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so special measures are being taken there.
