Lahore: Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) have announced a fixed salary of Rs 20,000 per month for teachers of their partner schools, which will continue even during the summer vacations. Earlier, these teachers were paid a salary of Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 per month, and salaries were often withheld during the vacations. Now, the School Education Department has issued clear instructions that all teachers should be paid their full salary even during the vacations.
The PEF administration has announced that monitoring of partner schools will continue even during the vacations to ensure timely payment of salaries. In case of delay or non-payment of salaries, strict action, such as fines or cancellation of partnership, will be taken. All partner schools have been directed to maintain the record of payment of teachers’ salaries in the online system. More than 10,000 partner schools are functioning under PEF and PEIMA across Punjab, where more than 30,000 teachers are serving on a regular basis. This decision will provide financial stability to all these teachers and will enable protection of their rights.
This step is a positive development for the welfare of teachers, which will not only reduce their financial problems but will also help in improving the quality of education.
