Islamabad: Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, has strongly criticized the political leadership, saying that all major parties unite only to protect their interests by trapping the people in a vicious cycle of inflation. He said that everyone is united on the increase in Senate seats or salaries, but all languages are closed on public issues.
During a press conference in Islamabad, Hafiz Naeem said that the Jamaat-e-Islami is the only party that is raising its voice against rising prices of electricity, gas, sugar, and petrol. They said that
“The sugar mafia has been protected in every government; the capitalists belonging to the PML-N and the PPP are imposed on the country.”
He said that in the present government, the price of sugar has increased from Rs 60 to Rs 200 per kg, but the government remains a silent spectacle.
Hafiz Naeem announced that the Jamaat-e-Islami would hold protests at divisional headquarters across the country on Sunday, including Islamabad, so that the government would feel public anger.
He also raised the question on petrol prices as to why relief is not being given to the people despite the low prices in the global market. Criticizing the RLNG agreements, Qatar’s agreements ignore Pakistan’s economic reality. He demanded that the industry be allowed to import gas itself.
