Lahore: The Punjab government has announced the introduction of a new project to provide medical facilities to flood-affected citizens. This project, called “Clinic on Boat”, will become operational in the next 24 to 48 hours.
This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir. During the meeting, it was informed that mobile clinics will be set up on boats that will reach flood-affected villages and remote areas and provide treatment to patients.
The provincial health minister said that the success of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Clinic on Wheels” has given a new model and now “Clinic on Boat” will also prove to be revolutionary in providing timely facilities to the victims. He also issued instructions for immediate measures in the affected areas to prevent dengue.
Analysts say that if the project is implemented effectively, it will prove to be a great convenience for the flood-affected people. However, the real challenge is implementation and transparency, because in the past many development initiatives have been slow or mismanaged. Public circles are hoping that the situation will be different this time.
