Lahore: The Punjab government has extended the school holidays in view of severe weather conditions and issued a new educational schedule, according to which schools across the province will now reopen from January 19.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has said that this decision was taken without any pressure, after complete public consultation.

According to him, the government has given importance to the opinions of students, parents and teachers.

According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, a clear majority in a survey conducted on social media supported the extension of the holidays, after which a new date was immediately announced.
Daily life is being affected due to continuous fog in many districts of Punjab. Traffic on motorways is limited while school vans and public transport are also facing difficulties.

The Meteorological Department has warned that the cold and fog may persist for the next few days. According to the report, the lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Skardu at minus 12 degrees Celsius, which shows the intensity of the cold wave.
Parents and educational circles have termed the government’s decision as realistic and said that there should be no compromise on the health of children.

The Education Department has clarified that educational institutions will be opened with full attendance from January 19 and activities will continue as per the academic calendar.
