PTI thunders in the Senate—the government’s strong explanation on prison facilities,

Islamabad: The political atmosphere heated up in the ongoing Senate session when PTI criticised the government regarding meetings with the founding party. Senator Faisal Javed asked the government, “Why is the PTI founder not being allowed to meet his party leadership?” According to him, the obstructions in the meetings are a sign of political vendetta.

In response, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry told the House that the PTI founder enjoys facilities in jail that are not available to any other prisoner in Pakistan. He said, “Six barracks, separate kitchens, exercise machines — all these are special privileges. Despite this, the jail is being turned into a meeting place to create political drama.”

The opposition protested strongly during Talal Chaudhry’s speech, which further strained the atmosphere. The Minister of State also said that the PTI founder’s family, lawyers and other representatives are holding regular meetings, so the allegation of obstruction is baseless.

According to political analysts, this matter is not just about meetings but a war of narratives. The PTI is using it to increase political pressure, while the government is defending it by calling it a matter of “special concessions”. Experts say the political temperature of this debate could rise further in the coming days.
