PTI mobilises district organisations for Black Day on November 26

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is set to observe November 26 as ‘Black Day’, opting for a dispersed protest strategy instead of a big rally. The decision comes at a time when the party is completing a year of its protest in Islamabad for the release of former prime minister Imran Khan.

PTI KP President Junaid Akbar confirmed that the party’s provincial, regional and district chapters have been directed to organise protests at the local level in their respective areas. He said the aim of this approach is to ensure participation across the province while avoiding unnecessary confrontations.

The lawmakers have been directed to visit the homes of workers killed in previous political movements and express solidarity with their families.

In addition, PTI workers will gather in Hayatabad, Peshawar, for Quran recitation, followed by a peaceful demonstration.

Party insiders say that the PTI wants to use the day to draw attention to what it describes as ongoing political persecution and renew its demands for the release of its founder.
