Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of direct flights to Barcelona and Milan, further expanding its air network in Europe. This move was taken especially with the aim of facilitating the large overseas Pakistani community living in Europe.
These decisions were taken on the instructions of Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Asif so that Pakistani passengers can travel safely and directly in less time. According to PIA, this move was possible when the UK removed Pakistan from the air safety list in July and lifted a five-year ban, which facilitated European air travel.
According to sources, after the ban was lifted, PIA resumed three weekly flights to Manchester, while in the next phase, flights from Islamabad and Lahore to London and Birmingham will also be resumed.
Experts say that these steps will not only increase the travel convenience of the overseas community but also strengthen the international reputation and economic opportunities of Pakistan’s aviation industry.
