Lahore: Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board has further clarified its stance and taken the national team into confidence, while the final decision regarding participation in the World Cup has been made subject to government consultation.
Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi met the players in the camp and informed them about the current situation, saying that the board will not accept any decision that is against Pakistan’s interests or international cricket principles.
He criticized the ICC and said that the world organization should treat all teams equally, double standards are against the spirit of the game.
According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi will soon meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to seek guidance on important issues such as participation in the World Cup, withdrawal or not playing the match against India.
National team captain Salman Agha, head coach Mike Hesson and other officials were also present on the occasion. The players expressed full confidence in the decisions of the chairman and said that they are ready for every challenge.
Mohsin Naqvi, while wishing the players well for the Pak-Australia series, said that the nation has high hopes for the team and excellent teamwork is the key to success.
This matter, which is important in a political and diplomatic context, is now awaiting a government decision, after which the picture of Pakistan’s World Cup future will be clear.
