Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is playing an active diplomatic role for peace and stability in the region and vigorous efforts are underway to resolve the current tense situation in Iran through talks. Addressing the federal cabinet meeting, he said that he himself, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Field Marshal have met and made telephone calls with the Iranian leadership on various occasions to reduce tensions.
According to the Prime Minister, Pakistan wants the growing threats in the region to end and lasting peace to be established. He said that Qatar, Turkey, Egypt and other friendly countries are also making efforts at the diplomatic level in this regard, which are commendable.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister strongly reacted to the recent incidents of terrorism in Balochistan and said that the security forces gave a befitting reply to the terrorists associated with Fitna-ul-Kharij and Fitna-ul-Hindustan. 180 terrorists were killed in the counter-attacks while the enemy suffered heavy losses.
He expressed regret and said that 17 security personnel and 31 civilians were martyred in the terrorist attacks, while innocent children and women were also targeted in Gwadar, which is open barbarity.
PM Shahbaz Sharif said that terrorists are enemies of humanity and those who attack unarmed civilians have no religion or morality. He said that the nation will never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs and will end terrorism completely.
He added that the Pakistani nation stands with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for their right to self-determination and all conspiracies, including those of their eastern neighbors, will be foiled.
