Pakistan is determined against cross-border terrorism, Khawaja Asif’s blunt message

Islamabad: Responding to the recent controversial statement of the Afghan Taliban, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the Taliban government is promoting terrorist activities in Pakistan through Indian influence and proxy networks.

He said that the Taliban’s internal differences, mismanagement and factionalism have affected stability in Afghanistan. According to Khawaja Asif, the oppression of women, children and minorities has exposed the true face of his government to the world.

The Defence Minister said that despite the passage of four years, the Afghan Taliban have failed to fulfil their international promises and are now following the agenda of external powers.

He said that Pakistan’s Afghan policy is based on national interest and regional security. Pakistan will continue to take vigorous action against terrorism to protect its borders.

Khawaja Asif said bluntly that false and provocative statements cannot change the ground realities; trust and relations can only improve with practical steps and cooperation.
