ISLAMABAD: In a strong diplomatic stand, Pakistan condemned Israel’s recent military aggression against Iran, calling it a clear violation of Iranian sovereignty and regional peace. Addressing a weekly press briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that Iran has the legitimate right to self-defense under the UN Charter. She called for immediate international action to hold the aggressor accountable.
Highlighting the collective opposition, he noted that 21 Muslim countries have issued a joint statement rejecting the Israeli aggression and calling it a violation of international law. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with key regional counterparts, including the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom, urging a coordinated diplomatic response to de-escalate the tensions.
Ishaq Dar also attended a session on humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians, where he advocated for increased assistance and solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza and the West Bank.
On another front, the spokesperson criticized India’s religious and political repression in occupied Kashmir. He pointed out that for the seventh consecutive year, authorities have banned Eid-ul-Adha prayers in Srinagar’s main mosques and detained prominent Kashmiri leaders, a pattern of human rights violations.
Responding to speculation about a regime change in Iran, the spokesperson dismissed such narratives as baseless rumors. He affirmed that Iran is a close ally and strategic neighbor of Pakistan. With the help of consulates in Tehran, Mashhad, and Zahedan, Pakistan has safely evacuated over 3,000 of its citizens from Iran amid rising regional tensions.
