Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said in her message on the occasion of Iqbal Day that Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s poetry taught the Muslims of the subcontinent freedom, self-reliance and self-confidence.
She said that Allama Iqbal set the direction of the nation with his thoughts, while Iqbal’s thoughts gave new life to the freedom movement led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Maryam Nawaz said that Iqbal’s message to the young generation is based on hope, hard work and self-reliance, and this way of thinking can form the basis of Pakistan’s future.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that following Iqbal’s philosophy of self-reliance is the best expression of love and devotion to him. She stressed that only by following Iqbal’s thoughts can Pakistan be made a moderate, just and welfare state.
She added that today we as a nation have to pledge to make Iqbal’s ideas a part of national policy and social consciousness so that the country can move on the path of development and stability.
