Istanbul: According to informed sources, the talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban are being revived once again. The Pakistani delegation, which was about to return, has now decided to stay in Istanbul for a longer period to further strengthen the prospects of peace.
Sources say that the new talks will reiterate Pakistan’s basic demand that Afghanistan protect its territory from the use of terrorists and take credible action against them.
In the past, the two sides had agreed to a ceasefire in the first round held in Doha, while the implementation of these points was reviewed during the second and third rounds in Istanbul.
According to Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar, despite the four-day talks, the Taliban has not given any clear assurances. He said that “Pakistan will continue to act against terrorists and their supporters to protect its citizens.”
The development comes at a time when tensions are rising in the region, and Pakistan is intensifying diplomatic efforts to maintain the continuity of peace.
