Minister For Transport takes action against those charging excessive fares, fines of Rs 2.5 million

Rawalpindi: Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has announced strict action against over-fare collectors by conducting a surprise raid on Rawalpindi’s Pir Wadhai bus stand. MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, DC Rawalpindi, and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

The minister himself spoke to the passengers and found out the fare details. He also inspected the cleanliness of the bus depot and said that better facilities will be provided to passengers at the bus depots.

He said that so far Rs. 12 lakh in excess fare has been refunded and fines of more than Rs. 25 lakh have been imposed. Special attention is being paid to fares on the occasion of Eid, and no concession will be made to those who overcharge.

Bilal Akbar Khan said that overloading in vehicles is not allowed; immediate action will be taken on violation. Passengers should call the 1071 helpline for any complaint; immediate action will be taken.

He added that action is also being taken against illegal depots, and the transport system is being modernized so that the public gets the best facilities.
