ISLAMABAD – The latest weekly report from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has once again stirred concerns for middle-class household budgets. According to the data, the prices of 15 essential commodities, including LPG and chicken, recorded an upward trend over the past week.
The most significant increase was seen in LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), which became 13.28% more expensive. This spike directly impacts households reliant on gas cylinders for cooking. Meanwhile, common protein sources are also becoming costlier; egg prices rose by 2.23%, and chicken prices increased by 2.13%.
Public circles have expressed worry that the rising costs of pulses and meat are shrinking the average person’s plate. Daal Mash and Mutton saw increases of 1.74% and 1.54%, respectively, while the prices of milk, yogurt, and beef also moved upward.
