According to global air pollution statistics, not only Lahore but also Karachi and New Delhi are prominent in pollution. Karachi recorded an AQI of 174 and was placed in the list of unhealthy cities, while New Delhi suffered from very unhealthy air quality with 276.

Health experts have warned that breathing such polluted air leads to an increase in heart, brain and lung diseases. Experts said that if timely measures are not taken, this matter could turn into a major public health crisis.

According to experts, factors like vehicle exhaust, industrial emissions, dust from construction activities and burning of residues in fields are behind this severe wave of smog, which retain pollution in the air for a long time.
