Lahore: Residents of Lahore are once again facing pressure on their household budgets after fresh poultry and egg rates were issued for the city markets. According to the latest official rate notification, live farm broiler chicken has been fixed at Rs. 383 per kilogram, while broiler meat is being sold at Rs. 397 per kilogram.

Consumers visiting markets in Gulberg, Johar Town, Ichhra, and Township reported concern over the rising cost of daily food essentials. Many families said chicken and eggs are among the most frequently purchased kitchen items, and the increase directly affects middle-income households.

Egg prices have also remained elevated, with a dozen eggs available at Rs. 234. Shoppers expressed concern that continued increases may put additional strain on grocery expenses.

Market observers in Lahore believe that demand pressure, transportation costs, and wholesale market fluctuations are contributing to the upward trend.
