Lahore: As Basant approaches, the district administration has extended the registration period for kite and string manufacturers and traders and set a new date of February 8. Earlier, the last date for registration on the online portal was January 31.
According to the district administration spokesperson, the aim of this decision is to maintain price balance in the market and control unnecessary inflation so that citizens can get quality goods at reasonable rates.
The authorities have clarified that only registered traders and manufacturers will be allowed to manufacture and sell kites and strings. This procedure will enable effective monitoring of quality, price and safety measures.
Sources say that after permission was granted to import kites and strings from other cities and provinces under SOPs, registration has been extended to increase supply, so that more and more businessmen can come under the legal ambit.
The administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who manufacture, distribute or sell without registration.
According to market analysts, the registration process will regulate the supply chain and reduce illegal profiteering. Experts say that “regulation will not only stabilize prices but also ensure the safety of citizens during Basant.”
