ISTANBUL: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said at the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Istanbul that Israeli actions in this global and regional context are a serious threat to regional and world peace, especially the ongoing bloody attacks in Gaza, calling them genocide and demanding an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.

He described the Israeli attacks on Iran as a clear denial of international law and urged the OIC to demonstrate global solidarity against Islamophobia so that the growing incidents of hatred against Muslims can be effectively combated. In addition, Dar also called some of India’s inevitable actions in South Asia, such as targeting civilians and water cuts, “unjustified aggression” and said that lasting peace in the region will not be possible until the Kashmir issue is resolved in accordance with UN resolutions.

He appealed to the OIC not only to intervene for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza through political pressure and diplomatic means but also to develop a global legal and educational strategy to combat Islamophobia so that the organization can promote effective cooperation and peace among its Muslim countries.
