Islamabad court attack: Defense minister declares ‘state of war’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is in a ‘state of war’ after a suicide attack outside a court on Tuesday, Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said.
The attack took place near a court complex and a police vehicle, where the blast took place 90 minutes later. The defence minister said the attack was a “wake-up call” and the government questioned the efficacy of ongoing talks with Kabul.
Security forces imposed tight security in the capital and Rawalpindi in the immediate aftermath of the attack. The attack has been strongly condemned by the judiciary, lawyers and political parties.
The interior minister has said that “whoever is involved, be it a local or a foreigner, will not be spared.”
