Lahore: India has once again demonstrated water aggression by releasing large amounts of water from the Chimera Dam, due to which the inflow of water into the Ravi River is increasing dangerously.
According to Indian media reports, all the gates of the dams on the rivers of the Kashmir region have been opened, and it is being said that about two lakh cusecs of water will be released from these dams.
Experts say that India’s sudden move to release water could increase the flood risks for Pakistan. Already, low-lying areas are being affected by the rising water levels in the Ravi and Chenab rivers in many districts of Punjab.
It should be noted that the Chenab River has seen record water levels after a decade, while the PDMA has also issued instructions to evacuate the areas around the Ravi. In such a situation, India’s water policy is being considered no less than a big test for Pakistan.
