Islamabad : Great news for the people suffering from inflation! The government has issued the first tender for the import of 300,000 tonnes of sugar through the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to control sugar prices.
According to an official announcement, sealed bids have been invited from international companies for the import of sugar by July 18. The tender has clarified that bids of less than 25,000 tonnes will not be accepted.
The government has announced that only high-quality and coarse-grained sugar will be imported, and inspection of each shipment is mandatory.
Furthermore, exemption from all taxes has been given to imported sugar, so that its price is lower for the public and stability is created in the market.
It should be noted that the federal cabinet approved the import of 500,000 metric tons of sugar last week, and this is the first step towards implementing that decision.
