Islamabad: In the meeting of the Standing Committee on Petroleum of the National Assembly, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has clarified that on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, there will be no increase in gas prices from January 1 and the prices will remain unchanged for the next six months.
During the meeting, the Federal Minister said that circular debt in the gas sector is not increasing further and the process of creating new debt has stopped due to reform measures. He said that the terms of the LNG agreement with Qatar were maintained despite difficult circumstances, which is a major diplomatic and economic success for Pakistan.
Ali Pervez Malik further said that on the instructions of the Prime Minister, Sui Gas companies have also been asked not to limit themselves to consumers who pay urgent fees but should also provide LNG connections to domestic consumers without urgent fees. According to the Federal Minister, maximum relief is being provided to the public during the winter season and better gas supply is being provided to domestic consumers across the country.
