Lahore: Water levels in the Chenab and Ravi rivers have risen to dangerous levels, due to which there is a risk of a flood situation in various districts of Punjab.

The flow of water in the Chenab River at Chiniot Bridge has been recorded at 855,000 cusecs, which shows the most severe flood situation. Similarly, at Shahdara, there is a flow of 176,000 cusecs in the Ravi River; however, a slight decrease in the water level is being seen.

The National Emergency Operation Center has warned that further pressure may increase in the upper reaches of the Ravi River from August 30 to September 3 due to rains and water release from Thane Dam.

According to the agency, the current flow at Baloki is 147,000 cusecs, which will reach Sadhanai between September 2 and 3, where a flow of 125,000 to 150,000 cusecs is expected.

Flood experts say that the areas of Lahore, Raiwind, Kasur, Pattoki, Okara, Deepalpur, Renala Khurd, Gogra, Tandianwala, Kamalia, Pir Mahal, and Adda Hakeem are at serious risk, and the local population should take precautionary measures.
