Islamabad: Regional tensions have cast a shadow over Pakistan’s airspace. While dozens of flights were cancelled in major cities like Karachi and Lahore, Faisalabad Airport was the only place where international operations continued as usual.
The impact of the growing tension in the region was not limited to ordinary passengers, but authorities have also announced changes in the second phase of Hajj pilgrim training. Hundreds of passengers were stranded at airports due to the cancellation of flights from Peshawar Airport to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi and from Multan to Dubai.
Aviation experts say that airlines are having to change or cancel their routes due to difficulties in using the Middle Eastern airspace and security concerns. Passengers have been advised to confirm their flights with their respective airlines before leaving for the airport.
