Islamabad: The Election Commission has decided to withdraw the schedule of delimitation issued for local government elections in Punjab.
This decision has come after the Punjab Assembly passed the new Local Government Law, after which the Election Commission withdrew the notification of delimitation made under the old law.
According to sources, the commission had issued the delimitation schedule after the hearing held on October 8 and had announced to hold local government elections in the last week of December; however, now the schedule has been delayed after the new law.
According to the Election Commission spokesperson, new delimitation will be started soon after the new legislation, and a new election schedule will be issued accordingly.
