Demand for the Taliban to stop sponsoring extremists, Pakistan’s blunt message

Islamabad: During the ongoing Pakistan-Afghan Taliban talks in Istanbul, Pakistan put forward very important points related to its national interests to the Taliban. Security sources say that Pakistan has strongly informed the Taliban government that support for terrorist elements will not be tolerated.

The Pakistani delegation said that Afghanistan will have to take clear, powerful and visible steps to eliminate terrorism. Pakistan’s position was that the path to regional security and peace lies only through responsible behavior.

Sources say that the Taliban have presented interpretations that are not in line with the facts and it has been understood that they are following another agenda that is worrisome for the relations between the two neighboring countries.

Pakistan also made it clear that practical action is essential to prevent threats like Fitna Khawarij and Fitna Hindustan. If Pakistan’s principled demands are not accepted, then no leniency will be shown and every step will be taken to defend its people and borders.

The talks were hosted by Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin. It was reported that the Taliban government gave its position on Pakistani proposals today, in response to which Pakistan also presented an immediate and principled position. Now the decision on the direction of the talks is linked to the positive attitude of the Taliban.
