ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting in Islamabad today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to sight the moon of Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH, after which the date of Eid-ul-Adha will be determined across Pakistan.

The meeting will be chaired by Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, while the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will gather in their respective areas to sight the moon.

According to the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SPARCO), the new moon was born at 8:02 am today, but its age at sunset will be approximately 11 hours and 34 minutes, due to which it will not be visible across the country.

On this basis, it is likely that the 1st of Dhul-Hijjah will fall on Thursday, May 29, while Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Eid-ul-Adha, celebrated on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, commemorates the sacrifice of his son by Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) at the command of Allah. On this occasion, animals are sacrificed and the meat is distributed among relatives, friends and the needy.

The final announcement regarding the sighting of the moon will be made after today’s meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
