Lahore: PTI leader Senator Ali Zafar has expressed serious reservations over the recent decisions of the judiciary and the procedure of the cases, saying that the founder of PTI is being kept away from the judicial process and his fundamental rights are being denied.

Talking to reporters in Lahore, he said that the PTI founder has been in prison for two years and 125 FIRs have been registered against him across the country. No charges have been proven in four major cases so far.

Ali Zafar termed the Toshakhana case as completely baseless and said that the sentence was pronounced on a trivial statement, while the trial was conducted in jail and the lawyer was not even allowed to appear.

He said that when this case failed, the Cypher case was brought forward in which we were not given the right to defend ourselves, the court appointed a lawyer on its own and sentenced us.

He termed the “Iddat Mein Nikah” case as damaging to the credibility of the court and said that it was also given a political colour.

Talking about the Al-Qadir Trust case, he said that there was no evidence, no charges were proven, yet the sentence was given. Ali Zafar said, “All this is part of the same narrative – political revenge.”
