Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has officially started the by-election activities. The complete schedule for the by-elections in three constituencies has been released.
According to the notification, the constituencies in which by-elections will be held include National Assembly constituencies NA-66 Wazirabad, NA-129 Lahore, and Punjab Assembly constituency PP-87 Mianwali.
The seat of the NA-129 constituency in Lahore fell vacant after the death of Mian Azhar, and now the people will once again elect a representative.
According to the schedule, candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers from August 4 to 6. Their scrutiny will be completed on August 11, while the tribunal will announce its decision on the appeals on August 22. The papers can be withdrawn by August 25, and election symbols will be allotted on August 26.
The Election Commission has directed all political parties and candidates to fully comply with the election code of conduct so that public confidence in the election process can be maintained.
