Karachi: Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that India is unsuccessfully trying to end the Indus Waters Treaty by justifying terrorism. In a private TV interview, he said Pakistan had taken wise decisions on Indian actions, which it fully supported.
Bilawal Bhutto said that water is the issue of our survival; India’s attempt to stop water is aggression on which we will not remain silent. He said Pakistan’s rivers are protected under the Indus Waters Treaty and India’s case is weak.
The PPP chairman said that in the meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, he put forward his reservations regarding the canals, and it was decided that no canal would be taken out without the consent of all the provinces.
He said the Sindh government’s objections to the CCI had been pending for a long time and were now being seriously considered. Bilawal Bhutto said that the PPP has always struggled for the fair distribution of water, and even during the PTI era, the only opposition to the two canals being allowed was from the PPP.
