Lahore: The increasing gas shortfall across the country has made life miserable for domestic consumers. Sui Northern sources have confirmed that due to the current crisis, domestic consumers are now being supplied gas only for a few hours during specific cooking hours.
Tail-end areas’ situation
The worst affected are those consumers who live in the ‘tail’ (last end) of the system or densely populated areas, where gas pressure is negligible. Complaints have been piling up from consumers that stoves remain cold even during breakfast and dinner.
Priority supply claimed
Sui Northern officials say that “our first priority is domestic consumers”. The company has claimed that it is trying to meet the needs of domestic consumers by managing the industry’s supply, but the shortage of supply in the LNG system has complicated matters.
