Rawalpindi: Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has revealed that the real target of the recent operation in Kabul was a large depot of ammunition, weapons and drones of the Afghan Taliban, the explosions of which were seen by the entire city.
In an interview on the private channel, the Pakistan Army spokesperson took a categorical stance that this operation is a befitting reply to the 53 attacks carried out by the Afghan Taliban on Pakistani checkposts.
Claim of civilian casualties is mere propaganda
The DG ISPR categorically rejected claims of civilian casualties in the attack, saying, “The propaganda of civilian casualties is a complete lie. Most Taliban fighters wear civilian clothes instead of uniforms to present themselves as civilians, while the group is using drug addicts as fuel for suicide attacks.”
India is behind terrorism
Lt Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry made a serious revelation that the drones that the Afghan Taliban recently used against Pakistan were being provided by India. He said:
“Pakistan is fighting a war against terrorism, and India is behind it. The terrorists involved in attacks like Wana Cadet College and Tarlai Mosque came from Afghanistan and received training there.”
He added that the leaders of the terrorist organisations, including Noor Wali, Bashir Zeb and Gul Bahadur, are currently in Afghanistan.
Strikes on 81 locations and capture of 44 checkpoints
The DG ISPR said that Pakistan carried out strikes on 81 locations of infrastructure supporting terrorists because whenever terrorist hideouts are targeted, Taliban militias reach to defend them. He said that during the recent operations, 44 check posts of the Afghan Taliban regime have been captured, and now the situation is that the Taliban and terrorists cannot spend another night in the same place.
Strict conditions for talks
Regarding the talks, the Pakistan Army spokesperson clarified that:
Pakistan is ready for talks, but first the terrorists should be handed over to Pakistan.
Afghanistan should eliminate terrorist centres on its soil.
The Afghan Taliban will have to decide whether TTP is important to them or Pakistan.
He said in blunt words, “You martyr the children of Pakistan here, and we will sit and talk with you?” Now you (Afghan Taliban) be patient.”
Ending smuggling and internal operations
The spokesperson said that the country has benefited from the prevention of smuggling on the Pak-Afghan border, and cross-border terrorism has reduced. He said that more than 200 operations are being conducted against terrorism daily inside Pakistan as well.
The DG ISPR said that we have no fight with the Afghan people; they themselves are hostages of this regime. He also stressed that terrorists spread their narrative on social media through Indian accounts, which must be thwarted.
