Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan has historically assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council today, and this opportunity will be used to promote global peace and stability.
He said that Pakistan has assumed this important responsibility for the eighth time as a non-permanent member and is fully committed to the UN Charter and international law.
According to Ishaq Dar, responding effectively to the growing conflicts and crises around the world has become the need of the hour. Pakistan is keen to work with all member states to promote a comprehensive partnership.
The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan will host two high-level meetings this month. One meeting will be related to peace and peaceful resolution of conflicts, while the second meeting will focus on joint efforts of the UN and the OIC.
