982 Urs of Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri is being celebrated in Lahore

Lahore: Sufis and devotees from across the country are paying tribute to the spiritual services of Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri (R.A.) today by participating in the 982nd Urs of Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri (R.A.). The three-day celebrations held at Data Darbar will feature Qawwali, Mehfil-e-Zikr and Durood-e-Salaam gatherings.

Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and provincial ministers attended the inaugural ceremony of the Urs and performed the Chadar Poshi ritual. The participants remembered the great teachings and mystical guidance of Data Ganj Bakhsh through Fateha Khawani and prayers.

The Lahore district administration has declared an official holiday on August 15 on the occasion of the Urs so that devotees can easily attend Data Darbar.  Tight security arrangements have been made to provide a safe environment to the devotees.

Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri, a great Sufi saint of the 11th century, popularized the teachings of Sufism and provided a treasure trove of knowledge and mysticism through his book “Kashf-ul-Mahjoob”. Even today, his school of thought is a source of guidance for millions of people around the world.

On the occasion of the Urs, devotees are filled with feelings of love and respect in their hearts while remembering the spiritual services of Data Ganj Bakhsh, and are trying to adopt the principles of peace and love in life in the light of his teachings.
