ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry in a joint press conference today strongly rejected the allegations made by India on the Pahalgam incident and said that Pakistan is ready to give a befitting reply to any Indian misadventure.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan has no role in the Pahalgam incident, and it is irresponsible on the part of India to make allegations without evidence. He said that India is deliberately escalating the situation in the region and using the incidents of terrorism for political purposes. Ishaq Dar said that India should focus on its internal issues instead of pointing fingers at others.
DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that the site of the Pahalgam incident is 230 km away from the Line of Control and there is a difficult way to reach there. He said that the Indian narrative is that Muslims opened fire and Hindus were fired upon, but this narrative is based on lies. He said that terrorism has no religion.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that India cannot unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty and the move to stop the water would be considered a war. He said the Pakistan Army was on high alert and would give a befitting reply to any action by India.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan has offered an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident and appealed to the international community to pay attention to the issue.
The DG ISPR said that India is using the incidents of terrorism for political purposes and trying to divert attention from its internal problems by blaming Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is the last bulwark against terrorism.
