Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, speaking during a visit to the FBR headquarters, said revenue would have to be increased if the country was to be pulled out of the debt quagmire. He said that it has been decided to digitize all the operations of FBR and the implementation has started. The Prime Minister said that the increase in tax revenue by 27% over last year is welcome, but much more needs to be done.
He pointed out that tax cases worth trillions of rupees are pending in the courts, which are very important to be decided soon. to benefit the national exchequer. He said that there are many shortcomings in various institutions regarding performance, which is the need of the hour. The prime minister also lamented that the track and trace system was not used effectively in the FBR in the past, although the system could play an important role in preventing tax evasion.
Shehbaz Sharif said that there has been a lot of pressure on the country’s economy due to debts, and now we have to resort to modern technology to get out of this pressure.
